RNA’s Access Center has closed.

Our specially trained Interventional Nephrologists work with you to prepare you for treatment if your kidneys begin to fail.

They use ultrasound images and measurements of the vessels in your arm as well as screening questions to educate you on the treatment options available to you, based on your unique situation.

They will then refer you for additional education, transplant evaluation, and/or to a surgeon as required in the next steps of preparation.

Access Care Physicians

The following procedures are performed in our center in support of optimum dialysis access health:

  • Vessel Mapping
  • Dialysis Modality Planning
  • Assess for Use

Early detection and timely resolution of access dysfunction are critical to access preservation. Timely resolution leads to fewer missed dialysis treatments and a lower frequency of hospitalization. The most common dialysis access problem is the narrowing of the access, or the blood vessel attached to it. This narrowing, called stenosis, can lead to clotting of the access. If this happens, dialysis treatments will not be effective, and the access may eventually stop flowing.
